"A man of action forced into a state of thought is unhappy until he can get out of it." ~ Franz Kafka

It has been an unpleasantly eventful past week. Some good things happened, like shooting my first freelance job and making it down to Pie Town, but some not-so-good things too. All I'll say on here since this is a public blog is that the court system is VERY helpful when it comes to filing restraining orders. It should be done by Friday at the latest.

Spent this weekend clearing my mind and designing a website for the photojournalism club here at NAU. Read about 210 pages in total from seven different books. Have two exams this coming week, which kind of sucks, but is something that time must be spent on. Cleared my mind entirely except for one thing and I don't know what to do. I'm falling and don't want to, shouldn't be, and can't at this point in my career.. But, as all of those cheezy quotes go, it finds you when it finds you, not when you want it to.

Anyways, here are some pictures from Pie Town last weekend.

First week of classes went good I suppose. Was a lot of time in lectures and even more time reading, but classes don't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Photos are my priority, and will be as long as my mind stays the way it is.

Three weeks until I go to Cleveland for an interview. Got my flight info today and it will be a long day. Flying out of Phoenix on the earliest flight, being picked up in Cleveland, having lunch interview at a bar&grill near the stadium, back to the airport, back on a plane and back to Phoenix. All in the same day!

A little more than a month until going back to Missouri. I'll be helping out at the POYi judging by reading cutlines, manning computers or clicker registers, or whatever else they need. Only going to be there for a week, but it should be just as much of a learning experience as CPOY was.

Heading down to Pie Town this weekend! Been craving some really amazing pie, so this is my chance to go back. Also going to do some portraiture down there in both pie shops and possibly at the radio telescope.

Tomorrow I have no classes, so I may head down to Pie Town then and be back in Flag for the swim meet on Saturday. Possibly set up a remote overhead camera and shoot with my primary down on the floor. Who knows!

Just got assigned my first freelance assignment. It is for Mountain Living Magazine. I'll be doing architectural and stylistic photos of the best houses in northern Arizona. This month's shoot is a very modern, spacious and gorgeous log cabin near the ski resort here in Flag. After doing the shoot I'll either post the photos on here or a link to them.

Anyways, sorry for the lack of photos on this site. Been putting them on my blogspot site instead since they look better on there.

Woohoo #2!!

Thanks for the comments on my last post!

Today was an amazing day for me. Found out two things...

Thing #1: I placed second in a photo contest with the theme of "Christmas" and won a 24x24 stretched canvas print. This is the image I entered into the contest:

Thing#2: I'm getting published again!!!! Some of my Obama and election photos are being used in a book about Barack Obama. The book is being printed this week and will be sold at the inauguration on Jan. 20. Yay!!

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!

I got accepted into the Sports Shooter Academy workshop!!!!!!!!!!

It is being held in southern California from April 8-12 and will cover all types of sports. I will have the opportunity to learn from professionals in the field and meet fellow students with a passion for sports photography.

The best thing is... Nikon is paying the tuition!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to end this post now because my excitement is too much for blog posting. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Been busy the last few days, and it feels really good.

Made this audio slideshow to test out my audio recorder...

Also, had a lot of internship applications fall through (positions being eliminated) so I've been busy finding more to apply for. We'll see if anything gets a response. Hopefully one will go through!

Found one today that sounds absolutely amazing, if I can get it. It was posted on the SportsShooter forums this morning and my application has already been emailed!

Oh, and Happy New Year's everyone!!
